WP objectives

(a) Design harmonised curricula and learning paths for OSprofessional profiles, to ensure alignment, uniformity, quality and recognition of the acquired competences across Europe and beyond.

(b) Define “OS essentials” to include in undergraduate and PhD courses and support professionals (public servants, research managers and data professionals).

(c) Foster an OS ecosystem where researchers, public servants, and data stewards align curricula, training, practices and needs to make Open Science happen.

(d) Deliver train-the-trainers courses for staff in competence centres and beyond.

Beskrivning av WP eller task

T4.1 Training curriculum for data stewards (M1-36, TU-Delft) Based on the MVS profiles (T2.1), this task will develop a training curriculum for data stewards. The curriculum will build on the RDNL ‘Essentials for Data Support’ training for data professionals . Community consultation will be sought during the curriculum development through the RDA Professionalising Data Stewardship Interest Group and data stewards networks (WP6) to align with community needs and support adoption. Curriculum adoption at a national level will be supported through the national Competence Centres of Skills4EOSC Network through ToT sessions and dedicated pilots. RDNL will sustain the curriculum at the European level and will be responsible for revisions and consultations with the RDA Professionalising Data Stewardship Interest Group and the data stewards networks beyond the project.

T4.2 Learning paths for data professionals (M1-36, DKB) This task will design and pilot learning paths for data professionals including data stewards, data librarians, data curators, and research support staff as well as other professional roles identified in WP2.1. In addition to ToT training sessions and pilots, professional networks (WP6) and the fellowship programme (T6.4) will play an key role in supporting lifelong learning for data professionals. Based on the results of T4.5, this task will implement ToTs and pilots of learning paths for legal and ethical experts working in research performing organisations.

T4.3 OS essentials at undergraduate level (M1-36, TAU) This task will reshape existing undergraduate courses on information and data skills to increase the availability of highly and appropriately skilled professionals enabling Open Science in all fields, and any academic career development. This task will design a set of courses to teach essential OS skills and data stewardship as defined in T2.1. Specific requirements for the STEM and SSH sectors will be identified to support professionals in these fields to pursue a data stewardship careers and related career paths in academia or industry. The independent course will be available to incorporate into curricula at bachelor and master’s levels. Tailored ToT sessions will be delivered to the Competence Centres experts and pilots will be run in Skills4EOSC partner Universities.

T4.4 OS ready PhD curricula (M1-36, UC3M) In this task, OS elements for PhD curricula will be studied, aligned and designed. Modules will be delivered that can be embedded in PhD curricula taking into consideration the disciplinary needs of the STEM and SSH sectors, and the different years of phD studies which reflect different levels of expertise and comprehension in relation to research activities, data management and Open Science. In line with the Skills4EOSC methodology, ToT sessions at Competence Centres will be followed by pilotsto test the effectiveness and gather feedback from Universities of the consortium..

T4.5 Integrating ELSI in curricula and learning paths for OS ready institutions (M1-36, KUL) This task will integrate key legal, ethical and social aspects in the design of curricula and learning paths for data stewards, data professionals, PhD, and undergraduate students in WP4. IPR, PSI, open data, data protection, licensing, as well as responsible and participatory approach to research and integrity are some key elements that will be addressed . Appropriate learning materials and elements of the curricula and learning paths will be designed to comprehensively address the ELSI framework. This task will also define learning paths on OS for legal and ethical experts in the ToT and pilots. For the tasks of WP4, the use of subcontracts for the recruitment of expert trainers and other experts is also foreseen in order to enrich the project training offer.
